March 7, 1974 Dave, Pete, Will Willie Makeit II and the USA Turk Machine were about to enter Ceduna, Australia after walking the 252 miles of dirt road across the Nullabor Plain in the State of South Australia. Ceduna is a small town in the West Coastal region of South Australia. Pete left the walk at Ceduna because of knee and foot problems. He returned home to his family in Costa Mesa, California. Dave continued the world walk with Will Willie Makeit II. Pete was missed.

Will Willie Makeit II died of a heart attack 15 miles outside of Port Augusta, South Australia. Disc jockeys from radio station 5 AU used a mobil radio station to tow the USA Turk Machine while Dave walked alongside. Dave called Jenni Samuel an Australian School teacher he met in Perth, Australia. Jenni had expressed interest in the walk so Dave asked her if she would tow the wagon with her car the rest of the way across her country. She agreed. Jenni Samuel, Dave, Will She Makeit and the USA-Turk Machine paused for a picture on their way to the finish of the Australian leg of the first walk around the earth. During the six week, thousand mile trek to the Pacific, Jenni and Dave fell in love. Driving the car at a speed that Dave could walk burned out two clutches. June 15, 1974, Jenni Samuel the Australian school teacher and Dave arrived in Sydney, Australia. Dave touched the Pacific having completed another leg of the walk around the world. During their time together from Port Augusta to Sydney Jenni and Dave fell in love and decided to get together when the walk was finished. The couple said good-bye but after the walk Dave returned to Australia to get Jenni. Two years later the couple was married in the USA and live in California.

July 28, 1974 at Newport Pier in Newport Beach, California Dave and Pete are presented with an American mule they named Willie Will Makeit II. After touching the Pacific Ocean the last leg of the walk was in motion. Pete decided not to walk to Waseca, Minnesota but he would be there for the finish. Presented with a mule retired from Knotts Berry Farm Dave walked with Willie Will Makeit II until she got stubborn and refused to move. Thanks to a Colorado Highway Patrolman and a letter from Minnesota Senator Hubert H. Humphrey Dave was given special permission to walk through the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado. According to the tunnel manager it was the first time that a non worker was given permission to traverse the 1.7 mile structure. Dave Kunst paused as he crossed into Minnesota from Iowa along Highway 169. He was just ninety miles from finishing the First Verified Walk Around the Earth in Waseca, Minnesota on Saturday October 5, 1974.

October 5, 1974 Dave completed the First Verified Walk Around the World in front of the State Theatre in Waseca, Minnesota. Dave Kunst became the first person to have circled the land mass of the earth with the exception of the oceans on foot. He went through 22 pairs of shoes on his walk.
