Thanks to a Colorado Highway Patrolman and a letter from Minnesota Senator Hubert H. Humphrey Dave was given special permission to walk through the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado. According to the tunnel manager it was the first time that a non worker was given permission to traverse the 1.7 mile structure. The Eisenhower Tunnel is a vehicular tunnel located on Interstate 70 approximately 60 miles west of Denver, Colorado. At a maximum elevation of 11,158 feet above sea level, it is the highest vehicular tunnel in the world.
