Ethel Johnson Buland White Floor Length Gown. Material: textile. Size: 33" W. at hemline x 50" L. Description: white fine cotton and silk floor length gown, v-neckline, 11" W. white lace bodice wrap below neckline extends around waistline, back closure with hooks and eyes extending from neckline to below waistline - ten 1/4" W. crocheted buttons form a vertical trim over the closure extending down 5" from neckline, short puffed sleeves and neckline edged with a 3" W. gathered band of sheer white cotton, sheer white ruffled over-skirt extends from waistline to ankle length, hemline encircled with a pointed scalloped edge band of embroidered roses and geometric designs. (b) Wedding Gown Sash. Material: textile. Size: 7 1/4" W. x 32 1/2" L. Description: white silk, satin and cotton. Silk sash lined with white cotton georgette and trimmed at each end with a circular 3 1/2" diameter white satin flower.
Dress worn by Ethel Altha Emma Johnson at her wedding to E. Howard Buland, June 14, 1916, in Forest City, Iowa, in her parents' home. Moved to Waseca in 1932 and died in Waseca in 1985.
