Purse, Mesh. Material: metal, textile. Size: 3 3/4" x 7 1/2". Description: white, yellow, red and green metallic pieces decorated and closely joined to form a geometric color scheme; the mesh fabric is fashioned into a small handbag that is attached at the top to a gilt hinged frame with a clasp opener and chain link carrier; company logo stamped inside metallic frame: "Mesh Bags Whiting & Davis Co."; the bottom edge of the bag is designed with 1" metallic fringe of rings and geometric shapes; interior lined with green cotton; .
Note inside purse: Made by Clint Orleaine whose wife was a good friend of the donor's grandmother; the Orleaines lived on East Elm Ave. between the Mahler and Tollefson houses. This purse was made while Clint was a prisoner in Stillwater where he was sent for the crime of bootlegging Company history as found on the Whiting & Davis website: company founded by William Wade, Edward Davis and Louis Heckman in Massachusetts in 1876.
