First National Bank Toy Bank. Material: metal. Size: 2" x 3 3/4" x 2 1/4". Description: shiny steel oval bank with coin and bill slot on top centered between a hinged handle; red and black printed metal label riveted to front with information, "The First National Bank, Waseca, Minnesota, Member Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation"; opening on bottom to unlock the panel and remove contents.
Frank and Ella Manthey lived on 11th St. S.E. and were backyard neighbors to the donor's family who lived on East Elm Avenue. The Gigeay girls called them Uncle Frank and Aunt Ella. Uncle Frank worked at the First National Bank and gave the girls banks so they would start saving money.
