Grant and Freda Haushahn. New Richland Star, 2 Apr 1920, pg 1: "HAUSHAHN - McCOLLEY. A wedding that was kept much of a secret to all outside of their close friends and relatives took place Wednesday, March 31, 1920 when Miss Freda Haushahn and Mr. Grant McColley were united in marriage. The ceremony was performed at the bride's home and conducted by Rev. I. C. Campbell of the Congregational Church. The ring service was used. The bride was attired in a dress of Copenhagen blue silk poplin and georgette crepe. She was attended by the sister of the groom, Miss Vesta McColley, who was attired in a dress of dark blue silk and georgette crepe. The groom, a son of E. A. McColley, was attended by the bride's brother, Floyd Haushahn. Following the ceremony a two course dinner was served at which Alice Jeddeloh, Ferne Sievert, and Edna Haushahn were waitresses. Miss Haushahn is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Haushahn living northeast of town. She is well known in this vicinity having moved here with her parents from Washburn, Illinois, five years ago. She is a girl that has been active in all church and social affairs and is one that we are sure will be a true and loving helpmate. The groom is a son of E.A. McColley, living neighbors to the Haushahns. He has lived here with his father since he came to this section from Freeborn county five years ago. He is a young man of sterling quality and the best of character. During the World War he served several months at Camp Grant in the US Army and at the signing of the Armistice he was given an honorable discharge. Upon his return he secured a position at the State Experiment Farm at Waseca where he is now employed. The newlyweds left Thursday noon for Albert Lea where they will visit relatives of the groom until after Easter when they will return to Waseca where they will make their permanent home. We wish to join with the many friends of both the bride and groom, in the heartiest congratulations." The picture was taken a few months after the wedding.
