Description: black and white portrait of Ernest and Amelia (Augusta "Emilie" Proechel seated in the front row center with their children William Proechel and Lydia Fitzloff; standing behind them are siblings Emma Shafer, Herman Proechel, Ida Mittelsteadt, Fred Proechel, Clara Theelke and Hugo Proechel.

Note: The third child, Augusta Proechel died shortly after her birth in 1874. The family was fortunate to have taken this portrait in 1915 as daughter Lydia Proechel Fitzloff died in 1916. August (Oestreich Proechel) went by her middle name, a common practice in Germany.
