Waseca-opoly Board Game. Material: paper, plastic, wood. Size: 9 1/4" x 18 1/4". Description: white pasteboard box and lid with historic photos and graphics designed by Sheila Morris. Contents: game board, dice, player pieces, play money bills, FATE cards, green chips, red chips; rule sheet with rules played similar to the original Monopoly game, but using local Waseca businesses on the board.
This game was created to raise funds for the creation of a Skate Board Park in Waseca. Local businesses purchased spaces on the board. The board game was sold for $20. The fundraising began in about 1999 and they were able to open the skate park in 2004. Most of the kids who worked on the project were in junior high when they started creating the game and fundraising. Most were graduated from high school by the time the park opened. People on the skate park creation committee: Missy donner, Shawn Donner, Brody Donner, Karen Hermes, Aaron Rykhus, Torrey Rykhus, Joe from City council, Chip Deckes and Eddie Dashner.
