Regulator Shelf Clock. Material: wood, metal, glass. Size: 17" x 29" x 5". Description: golden oak case holds a clock face with 12 Roman numeral hours encircled by the 31 days of the month; three metal pointers circle the face indicating the hour and minute of the day as well as the day of the month; the clock face is covered by a hinged circular glass door; the clock is set in an octagonal case and encircled by eight oak plain medallion caps; the octagonal case is attached to a rectangular wooden hanging case; under the clock face is a small wooden hinged door inset with glass and printed in gold with the word "Regulator", a series of numbers and letters are hand-scratched into the inside of the door, "MN0810000DH05074"; (a) an ornate pendulum hanging from a hook can be accessed inside; (b) silver clock winding key. Stamped on the back of the clock case is the name of the dealer, Herman Slider, Jeweler & Optician, Janesville, Minn.
This clock is on permanent loan from the City of Janesville. It once hung in the a Janesville bank. The informal agreement between the donor and the WCHS staff states that should the City of Janesville open their own city museum, that this clock could be returned and released from the gift agreement.
