Lake Scene Painting by LeRoy Miller. Material: paper, wood, metal. Size: 16 1/2" x 21". Description: pastels, blue and brown acrylic painting on canvas of a sky, lake and shoreline foliage; frame constructed of thinly sliced and layered walnut shells sealed with a transparent varnish; artist is Waseca man, LeRoy Miller, framer is artist's sister, Marian Miller. LeRoy Miller was head of the maintenance department at Central High School from about 1945 to 1980. Miller also made music stands for the Wenger Corporation; was contracted by the Herter Company to fine-tune bird calls for their inventory and while working at the school, he built the track team hurdles. Miller lived on 5th Street, Waseca near Clear Lake. The donor purchased this painting in about 1980 at Miller's estate auction.
