Brewery Advertisement Using Historical Painting Reproduction: Execution of 38 Sioux Indians at Mankato. Material: paper. Size: 20" x 28". Description: white paper lithographed in color of the historical event that took place in Mankato, Minnesota on December 26, 1862; a depiction of the crowd of locals and Union soldiers on foot and on horseback witnessing the 38 Indians as await their fate on the massive gallows; a porch in the foreground shows three Union officers lounging and smoking as they sit with drinks in anticipation of the execution; two cases of beer bottles are stacked on the ground in front beside two kegs; each case imprinted: "The Standard Brewing Co., Mankato, Minn."
This reproduction was originally widely available beginning back in the late 1800s on metal serving trays that were used as advertising for the local brewing company.
