John McShane was born in 1886 in Iosco Township to Thomas and Ann McShane. In 1910 he married Ellen Devine. They had 7 children. After farming in the area of Morristown and Waterville, the family settled in Waseca in a small house where the Elm Avenue Kwik Trip convenience store was later built (in the 2000s). John passed away in 1950 and is buried in the St. Jarlath's Cemetery, Iosco.
