Description: black and white photograph portrait of a woman wearing a double breasted dark coat and a wide brimmed hat decorated heavily; Maren Michelet, born in Norway was the first Norwegian high school teacher in Minnesota; she taught Scandinavian languages in Minneapolis and was decorated for her educational and Norwegian language translation work by King Haakon VII of Norway in 1925; she was born in 1869 and died in 1932; Michelet is buried in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Plot 5, Lot 405, Grave 8; the photo is autographed, "Yours respectfully, Maren Michelet".
