Janesville Merchants Company Token. General Store, Janesville, MN. Material: metal. Size: 7/8" diameter. Description: gold metal disk; beaded border; relief print on one side: "Janesville Merc. Co., Janesville, Minn."; print on reverse side: "Good For 5 cents In Merchandise."
All artifacts were found in the home of John Schmidt of Janesville, MN. John is a great uncle to the donor. Emil Felske was a family friend. John's father was George Schmidt. George was part of the Janesville Fire Department and owned a clothing store with Werdin. George also sold insurance. Janesville business: Janesville Merchants Co. Note with coin states that the Janesville Merchant's Company general store was in operation from 1919 until 1931.
