Snow Storm 1935-1936. Material: paper. Description: black and white photograph of a car in the middle of a road with huge piles of snow on either side of the car. The car is a 1929 Chevy and belonged to Mabel Anderson. Photograph labeled: "First Hill South."
Note from donor: "The 1929 Chevy car owned by Mabel Anderson was driven by Mabel to the west coast with Mary (Bishman) Krassin (Waseca Herald, July 30, 1931, page 3, column 3) and with a cousin and two friends in 1935 (Waseca newspaper, August or September.). The photograph is labeled, 'First Hill South', but Mabel didn't say south of what! She could have meant District 3 school where she and Margaret Matson were teaching, or south of the Schmidke farm where they stayed during the school week. The Schmidke farm was NE of the school. Mabel and Margaret skied across the fields to the school. Margaret used to laugh about it – she had a damaged hip (broken when she was a child, maybe sledding) and she had some trouble getting over the fences. Margaret was later county school superintendent."
