Phebe Sutherland from Minnesota attended Mankato Normal School and taught school in Eagle Lake and Janesville in the 1880s; at about that time, Robert Fuller arrived in Minnesota from his native New York; they met and married; they owned the Westlawn Carriage Horse Farm in Mapleton in partnership with John Willard; after some financial losses they moved to Redwood Falls and started another Westlawn Horse Farm; after Robert died, Phebe moved back to the Mankato area where she was instrumental in starting one of the first libraries, a cemetery association, the local Red Cross and was an active Suffragette; the book contains many personal letters, photos and references to events in American history.
