Ella Trinka Lund was born in 1873 and died in 1941. The Lund family lived in New Richland, founded the telephone company there and built a line to Waldorf. Ella played the piano and sang in Vaudeville-type shows locally. She also painted local landscape scenes using watercolors. Two of her paintings are in the WCHS collection. On April 25, 1900 she married Milo A. Hodgkins in Waseca County. Her only child was Cecile Hodgkins Barsch (1905-1975). Milo Hodgkins was the son of Samuel Hodgkins and Lucretia Ackerman Hodgkins.
