From the Carl Henry Broscoff and Ruth Violet (Wobschall) Broscoff Estate. Samuel Ferdinand Ewest was born 29 September 1848 in Germany. He came to America in 1869. He was employed in Rochester and later came to Waseca County. He lived on a farm in Wilton. He was married in 1872 to Augusta Dorothy Rehbein. Augusta was born near Neu Stettin, Pommerania, Germany, on June 12, 1853. Coming to this country with her parents in 1870, they settled in Alton in that year. She was married in 1872 to Samuel F. Ewest, and they resided on their farm until they moved to this city three years ago. In this city they resided in a house north of the Frank Smith residence on North Second street. Eleven children were born to the couple. A daughter was killed by lightning. Children: Mrs. William Schroeder of Alma City, Mrs. Paul Wobschall of Vivian, Herman, William. and George Ewest of Wilton, Walter of St. Mary, Mrs. Arthur Krassin of Wilton, Louis, Mrs. H. Twisselman and Miss Lydia of this city.
