Rocking Cradle. Material: wood. Size: 19" x 40" on 32" W. rocker base. Description: butternut, handcrafted construction; shallow box forms a child size bed; short spindles on each side near top; a wide rocker bar on each bottom end.
The cradle was built by Frederick William "Bill" Minske for children born to him and his wife Ernestine Kanne Minske.in about 1889. Many of the grandchildren and future generations of babies have slept in the cradle also. A provenance booklet #60.14 includes the photos of the cradle and family history compiled by Leona Kanne Benson in 1980.
