Stringed Instrument Tuning Key. Material: metal. Size: 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". Description: black painted cast metal shaft open at one end to fit over a square tuning peg; an ornate horizontal handle at the top for turning the peg on a stringed musical instrument such as a piano lap harp.
Found in the collection of Oscar and Emma Tollefson who built and lived in a residence at 207 East 1st St., Janesville, Minnesota. The tuning key could have been used with a wooden piano harp that was popular in the early 1900s.
