The platted town of Palmer Minnesota is located in the SW corner of section 13, Iosco Township, Waseca County. Everything regarding Palmer started shortly after the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad platted their North South route through Waseca County in 1877. Palmer in its beginning was known as Palmer Station. Although there was activity, the actual town of Palmer would not get platted until many years later in 1915. Over the years Palmer would have four general stores, a post office, a creamery, a stockyard, a school house, two train depots, a blacksmiths shop, a church and a grain elevator. Palmer station was also known as a whistle stop station. The Minneapolis and St. Louis (M & St. L) railroad had a time table connected to all of its major stops along its route. Palmer was between Waseca and Waterville. Information provided by Robert Hagen.
