Description: yellow and black reflective paint on steel; yellow triangle pattern on black circle with yellow background; printed below graphic: Fallout Shelter; printed at bottom: DOD FS No. 2 (Not to be reproduced or used without Department of Defense permission). Never used.

Civil Defense; Emergency Management. In the 1950s and 1960s these signs were posted on the exteriors of buildings with shelters for use in case of an atomic bomb attack. The Fallout Shelter Sign Posting Handbook lists the FS 2 as an interior sign.
