Hog Scalder, Cast Iron Boiling Pot, Cast Iron Cauldron . Material: metal. Size: 3' diameter x 18" H. Description: cast iron cauldron; rounded bottom; pegs on each side; pitted and rusted.
Used for boiling water to slop the pigs, scalding pork and also for making lye soap during the Depression. Blooming Grove Township, Elmer "Butch" and Marion Sutter Family; Richard Sutter's sisters are Janette Larson and Joann Sutlief. The cauldron was found at Charles Frederick Sutter farm.
