Description: white glossy card stock cover with oval photo of Marion Willard Everett and title, "Future in a Handbasket, The Life and Letters Behind Carney's House Party; contents: 184 illustrated pages telling the story of one of author, Maud Hart Lovelace's friends, Marion Willard Everett who was fictionalized as Carney Sibley in Lovelace's book, "Carney's House Party". The real-life Carney, Marion Willard, later married William Everett of Waseca, grandson of the original EACO Mill owner, also named William Everett.
The donor is the great-daughter of William Everett, co-founder with Aughenbaugh, of the EACO Mill in Waseca. The Everett home, built by William's son Edward Everett, overlooking the east end of Clear Lake, was a showplace in its time, a classic Victorian-style home, the Everett house was demolished in 1958; it was an architectural and historical loss to Waseca County. This book is signed by donor Louise Everett King, daughter of William and Marion Everett. Maud Hart Lovelace was the author of the famous "Betsy-Tacy" book series.
