March 26th. 1973 the circumambulation of the earth was restarted at the exact site in Afghanistan where John Kunst had been killed. It had been about five months since the Bandit attack and Dave was fully recuperated from the gunshot that almost killed him. The American Embassy provided transportation for Dave, Pete, Willie Makeit II and the USA-Turk Machine. Eight Afghan policemen with two motor cycles and two jeeps provided protection for the Kunst brothers until they reached the Pakistan border. The event was covered by the world media.
