History of the the creator Grace Putnam's Bye-Lo Baby attached to gift agreement. Donor shared original owner's story: "At age 9 years, Adele (later Mrs. Allen Wolf) saw a Bye-Lo baby doll in a store window; she asked for it for Christmas; but it was not under the Christmas tree, much to her disappointment; it was delivered by the storeowner the day after Christmas. One day, while playing with the doll, a friend broke the porcelain head and it was never replaced. As an adult, Adele found a similar doll at auction; she began to bid on it, but lost it to another bidder. Later, Adele discovered that the other bidder was her husband who presented it to her when they were leaving the auction. Margaret Sinn later bought the doll from the Adele and Allen Wolf estate.
