Cash Register. (a) Register. Material: metal, wood, stone. Size: 28 1/2" W. x 20 1/2" D. x 34" H. Description: brass plated and ornately fleur-de-lis patterned metal machine last used in the Guyer's Men's Clothing Store; a vertical row of clerk windows on left labeled: "A", "B", "D", "E" (each having a key lock), "R. on Acc't", "Charge", "Total"; red keys labeled incrementally by tens from "$90" down to $10"; red keys labeled from "$9" down to "$1" black keys labeled by tens from "90" down to "10"; black keys labeled from "9" down to "1"' a window across top (front and back) shows "Total"; a window below shows "Dollars", "Cents"; a wooden turning handle on right side with paper receipt roll holder records and tallies sales; a key slot lock on right side; a hinged metal case paper receipt holder on lower right; a marble front countertop slab below keys above oak base; the base holds a stack of four shallow wide drawers lettered "A", "B", "C", "D" receives cash and checks from transactions by each clerk; ornately engraved across register base and on the back is the name: "National"; a serial number name plate below front top windows is stamped: "926714 582-4-C". b) Set of Keys. Material: metal. Size: 1 1/2" L. Description: silver metal keys, each key stamped with corresponding lock number: "1D", "2D", "3D", "4D"; "National Cash Register Co. Dayton, Ohio."
National Cash Register Company; restored by Karl Jones, museum volunteer in 2014. Four keys are in the key slots representing the clerk drawers. Extra keys are stored inside the register drawers. Restored by Karl Jones February 2014.
