Used by Iola Christiansen Britton (born 6-9-1920 near Balaton and died 11-28-2005), first while attending teacher's training at Mankato Teachers' College and throughout her teaching career: three years at a country school near Balaton, Minn., two years at Pipestone, and two years at Fulda before marrying Robert Britton of Janesville. Later Iola taught in Pemberton and then in Janesville from about 1970 to 1995. Note from donor's daughter: "Iola's mother insisted that she go to college to be a teacher and support herself just in case she didn't get married because she was so tall."
