Blue-Green Plastic Love Bead Necklace. Material: plastic, metal. Size: 1/8" diameter x 14" L. Description: blue-green plastic elongated beads strung on fine wire; brown metal and plastic beads alternating with two white translucent beads form center design; metal screw closure linked on each end.

Handmade beaded necklaces called "love beads" were very fashionable in the late 1960s, and it became a fad to trade beads with friends as a universal symbol for brotherly love and acceptance. They could be any size or shape, exquisitely crafted or plain. Love beads were all you needed for the complete hippie look.
