Master Knitting Machine. Material: metal, wood. Size: 15" W. x 42 1/2" H. Description: brass top cylinder supported by black iron tubular three legged stand; metal yarn hooks encircle top of cylinder head; hand operating crank on side regulates speed of knitter; brand name, "Master Machine by the Home Profit Co., Rochester, N.Y."; used by people in their homes to knit hosiery and socks especially for World War I soldiers.
Found in attic of Dr. Oeljen House, 331 N. State St., Waseca. Extra parts and knitting samples are stored in a box next to the machine.
