Description: pastels in water color showing people struggling in the ocean, people in life boats, a life boat descending from sinking ship; painting mounted in a narrow brown wooden frame; signed on front: "T. Savage, 1918, From London Sphere"; handwritten in pencil on reverse: "Mabel" (artist's granddaughter, Mabel Wilson Beach); "The Lusitania Sinking, Whole No. 257, by Thos. Savage, Janesville, Minn. 1918, $15".
