Averill Warburton Cutting White Satin Gown. (a) Gown. Material: textile and metal. Size: 15" W. shoulder to shoulder x 38" L. Description: white net over white satin; sleeveless, rounded and slightly scooped neckline, wide Peter Pan collar extends beyond shoulder at upper sleeve line; wide skirt gathered to a narrow piping at waistline and again 3" below waistline and 7" below waistline; back closure with a long metal zipper. (b and c) Wristlet. Material: textile. Size: 3 3/4" W. x 9" L. Description: white net over white satin glovelike garment designed to only cover the wrist and lower arm, tapers to a point over back of hand.
Averill Warburton was raised on a farm between Waseca and Elysian. She was married to Mr. Cutting by Reverend Hinderle on June 13, 1954 at a 3 p.m. ceremony in Grace Lutheran Church, Waseca. Averill sewed her wedding gown from material purchased at Brett's Department Store, Mankato, for $100.
