For several years he was associated with his father in the contracting business and later took up barbering. He followed that profession until 1935 when he came to Waseca. George joined the Johnson Radio Co. on January 19, 1936 as a salesman. After the fire of January 9, 1941 when the building and contents were destroyed, George was transferred to the main plant where he was supervisor of the insulator dept. George resigned and opened up a home equipment store in Waseca. He later sold it to Popp & Groebner, and George returned to the E. F. Johnson Company and is employed in the purchasing department. George is a past president of the Waseca Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Lions Club, a member of the Waseca Congregational Church, and of Tuscan Lodge #77, A.F. & A.M., serving as lodge master in 1943. George is serving his second term on the Waseca School Board. The Hacketts have two daughters, Susan and Judith. George is one of Waseca's outstanding citizens, a man you love to have as a friend.
