B. J. Gallagher. 5" x 7" black and white photograph of Dr. B. J. Gallagher, "now semi-retired; I consider him the most sincere doctor in the state of Minnesota, beloved by everyone in Waseca and surrounding community. He and his brother, Frank, were given a testimonial dinner on May 28, 1959. The doctor was born in Wilton Township on June 27, 1889, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Gallagher. He graduated from Waseca High School and received his M.D. at the University of Minnesota in 1919; served on Mayo Clinic staff 1919-1926 and 1927; practiced medicine at Waseca 1921-1926, at St. Cloud, Minnesota 1927- and 1928; returning to Waseca in 1928, where he practiced on full time basis until January 1, 1959. He still will help out in emergencies. During WWI he enlisted in the army medical corps. He was taken prisoner and spent six months in a German prison camp. He served on the Board of Education, on the Park Board and as City Health Officer for many years. He is at present serving in this capacity. He is a devout member of the Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Waseca Historical Society, and many Waseca service clubs. Dr. and Mrs. Gallagher are the parents of five children; their oldest son, Dr. William Gallagher is practicing medicine at La Crosse, WI.; his son, Lawrence is studying law at the University of Minnesota; their three daughters, Margaret, Marion and Virginia are all married. During Herman Peterson's work at the Waseca County Historical Society, he collected portraits and biographies of many friends and Waseca area businessmen and professionals.
