Donald Brown. 4" x 6 1/4" black and white photograph; Donald C. Brown, father of Wayne "Bumps" Brown and Grove Brown; "graduated from New Richland High School, learned the printer's trade in his father's newspaper office at New Richland. Later was in partnership with Herbert Sivert, and they purchased the New Richland Star which they published for several years. He came to Waseca in 1924, joined the Waseca Journal staff and in 1927 bought half interest from the late W. A. Clement and became editor and publisher. Today the Waseca Journal is one of the leading weekly papers in the state of Minnesota. It is known for its fearlessness and fairness. He is a member of the American Legion and a past president of the Lions Club. He is past president of the American Legion Commercial Club, member of the Board of Directors of the Waseca Canning Co., member of the Board of Directors of Waseca County Agricultural Society, Deputy Registrar of Automobile License Plates, Waseca County Chairman of Republican Party and one of the hardest workers I have ever met. he is a man who holds the respect of all our citizens. To me a very dear personal friend whom I love and respect a great deal. Just one fine citizen."
