He was appointed Postmaster at Waseca in 1937, which position he still holds. He was manager and editor of the Waseca Herald until October 1, 1948. Because of ill health he sold his interest to the Waseca Journal Publishing Co. Marty has always been interested in sports and civic affairs. I have worked with him on the Fair Board and on many other committees for many years and always found him a square shooter and a hard worker. A man I have the deepest respect for. It is my sincere wish, Marty, that you will fully regain your health. And as you have told me many time, "Why don't you take it a little easier.'"
During Herman Peterson's work at the Waseca County Historical Society, he collected portraits and biographies of many friends and Waseca area businessmen and professionals.
