Cletus Murphy. 2 7/8" x 3 7/8" black and white photograph; Cletus Frank Murphy; "born in Jackson County, Minn. on July 14, 1896; graduated from Lakefield, Minn. High School in 1914, and from the U of M with B.S. degree in 1918; married to Ethel Draggoo, June 7, 1919; parents of five children; from 1918 to 1934 he was in partnership with his brother operating a large farm in Jackson County; besides farming he took a great interest in many outside activities: member of Jackson Co. Fair Board, Sec. Shipping Assn., Dir. Sioux Telephone Co., and president of Jackson Co. Farm Bureau. He came to Waseca in 1934 and accepted a position as County Agent. During his stay here he has built up the Farm Bureau and 4-H Club of this county. These organizations stand out very high in comparison with other counties. . . served on the National County Agents Assn. Board, served as president of Minnesota County Agents organization. he is a member of the Sacred Heart Church, member of the Lions Club, Waseca Chamber of Commerce. In 1949 he received his M.S. degree. I met Cletus the first day he came to Waseca in 1934 and he is a man after my own heart. I have worked with him on many committees and always knew where he stood on civic problems. I consider myself lucky that I can list myself as his friend. Best of luck to Clete.
