3" x 4" hand-tinted daguerrotype wedding portrait of Thomas Cawley or Thomas Kilcawley and his wife, Margaret Madden on their wedding day, June 3, 1857; 4" x 5" metal photo case is heavily decorated with relief swirls, ovals, and flourishes; hinges in good condition; velvet covered left inside cover; daguerrotype is mounted with gold metal flourish stamped frame; actual gold tipped paint was added to the jewelry the couple is wearing in photograph, rings, earrings, brooche and studs; daguerrotype is deteriorating and falling off glass surface on clothing, but not yet faces.
