Hand, Butter

Material: wood. Size: 2 7/8" W. x 10" L. Color and description: natural wood - paddle end is smooth on one side and finely grooved or corrugated on other side to mark the butter or to form butter balls during buttermaking.
Used by Anna Lange of Janesville, Minn. Butter hands were also known as "Scotch Hands". Often made from French boxwood or rock maple.
