Dr. Martin J. Taylor, Janesville. 3 3/4" x 5 3/8" black and white photograph of Dr. Taylor aka Dr. Martin J. Taylor, Janesville physician, who also founded the Janesville Concert Band; see Accession 39.02.1 for photograph of Taylor and the band members in a practice room. Dr. Taylor lived in the large home at Second and N. Mott St. (in 2002, it is the Fenelon Place, a bed and breakfast inn).
Dr. Martin Taylor was an active social, civic and educational advocate for over 20 years in Janesville, Minnesota; some of the projects he was involved include the public library, public utilities, art, music, drama, tennis, landscape (residential boulevards) and local government (twice-elected Janesville mayor). He came to Janesville in 1881 and opened his medical practice on North Main Street. He married a local woman, Stella Carpenter in 1886 and became the father of two children: Marvel and Douglas Taylor.
