Thompson Boat House and Grant Boat House. 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" black and white postcard photograph of Thompson & Grant boat house or boat landing; print on bottom of card: "Boat Landing, Clear Lake, Waseca, Minn."; sign on boat house: "H. A. Starr, prop., North Star Summer Resort, inquire here" for camping grounds; shown are several small wood shelters along the shore of Clear Lake; several unidentified men are standing around the center building by a dock and rowboats lined up ready to rent; Maplewood Park can be seen across the lake in right distance; Thompsons Boat House was built on this site in March 1910 by Nate Thompson, Charles Grant and H. A. Starr.
Waseca business: North Star Summer Resort. The donor is the great-grandson of William Everett, co-founder with Aughenbaugh, of the EACO Mill in Waseca County. The Everett home, built by William's son Edward Everett, overlooking the east end of Clear Lake, was a showplace in its time, a classic Victorian-style home, it was demolished in 1958 it was an architectural and historical loss to Waseca County. This collection of photographs from Willard Everett is donated under our "Loaned to Us" program, where the donor allows WCHS to scan the images, but donor keeps possession of the original photographs.
