Description: black and white postcard photograph of the Waseca County courthouse; viewed from the intersection of Lake Avenue and 2nd Street (now 3rd Avenue and State Street); the EACO Flour Mill can be seen in the left distance; the smokestack is spewing dark smoke trailing south; horse-drawn wagons parked on street on left side; photographed by Bellew, Waseca, Minn. In background is the Sheriff's residence / Sheriff's Office and jail, Waseca County Jail; the converted house that stood west of the Waseca County Courthouse; the former jail house was torn down in 1971.
Waseca business: EACO Flour Mill. The donor is the great-grandson of William Everett, co-founder with Aughenbaugh, of the E. A. Co Mill in Waseca County. The Everett home, built by William's son Edward Everett, overlooking the east end of Clear Lake, was a showplace in its time, a classic Victorian-style home, it was demolished in 1958 it was an architectural and historical loss to Waseca County. This collection of photographs from Willard Everett is donated under our "Loaned to Us" program, where the donor allows WCHS to scan the images, but donor keeps possession of the original photographs. This photograph is from his postcard collection. Lake Avenue became 3rd Avenue April 1928.
