The Gardner loaned images are from framed photographs from the Gardner Law Offices in Janesville, Minnesota. The donor is the son of Harvey E. Gardner who started the law office. Harvey also served on the Janesville Fire Dept. and coached the Janesville baseball teams for many years. Regarding Dave Hoversten, his son Bill added these comments: "When I was growing up, it was always a big deal to see the local firemen in action. For practice using their water hoses, they would sometimes clear the main street of Janesville of cars in the evening and then wash down the streets. I know they used to do this after the Hay Daze celebration was over. In those years after WWII, the firemen were an impressive group in their uniforms and had a strong organization. I think their military training and experiences helped them have pride in their uniform and the fire department and work together to get alot done with fund raisers, training, etc. I am proud of my dad and the fact that he was part of the fire department."
