O. A. Mellby. 3 1/2" x 4 1/4" black and white portrait photograph of Reverend O. A. Mellby. Narrative: " . . . was born in the parish of Hurdal in Norway, January 9, 1843. He attended the parish school and later completed college and theological courses at the University of Christiana, being ordained as a minister of the gospel by the Rt. Rev. Areys in October 1872. In 1867 he married Sigrid Grundt. In 1872 Pastor Mellby with his family, left Norway and came to Waseca County where he began his pastoral work that same year. From then until 1915 when he retired, he served the LeSueur River Congregation which included Trinity Lutheran Church in the village of New Richland and LeSueur River Church in the country. During these 43 years he also served a number of other churches part of the time."
These are partial photograph albums with portraits and narrative regarding the church history of several Waseca County churches, including the New Richland Lutheran Ladies Aid; Grace Lutheran Church, Waseca; Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid, LeSueur River Lutheran Congregation, Norwegian Lutheran Church, First English Lutheran Church, and the North Waseca Lutheran Church.
