LeSueur River Church and Rev. Mellby. 3 1/4" x 3" black and white photograph of the LeSueur River Lutheran Church, with an inset photograph of Reverent O. A. Mellby; narrative: "Our first church was a log structure built in 1862 on a piece of ground donated by Hans O. Sunde in Section 11, New Richland township. The members contributed the logs hewn and grooved and fitted them into place. The church was 20' by 26' and 14' high. The interior was very simple, rough boards being used for seats. There was a gallery. A very crude altar ring was found and a table was used for a pulpit. Our second and present church structure was built in 1875, on the same site as the log church. The date of dedication and name of the person by whom it was dedicated is not known."
