Janesville Taylor House. 13" x 8 3/4" black and white photostatic copy of an original postcard photo of Dr. Martin J. and Stella (Carpenter) Taylor's residence in Janesville, Minnesota, located on the corner of North Mott Street and West 2nd. The house was built in 1903 in the Queen Anne Victorian-style. It has three stories, a large wrap-around porch in the front and side, and a large stained glass window on the landing of the staircase.
The image is donated by the present owner who runs a Bed & Breakfast in this home. The house at 215 N. Mott St., Janesville was built by Dr. Martin and Stella Carpenter Taylor; it was sold in 1912 to John H. Murphy. In the 1930s, it was sold to the Gosewich Mortuary and became a funeral viewing site as well as a rooming house. In the 1940s it went back to a single residential ownership and was sold to a Johnson family. In 1947 it was acquired by Emil and Veronica Meyer who lived there until 1965 when it was sold to John and Pauline Haug Fenelon. The house was restored and remodeled in 1970s and 80s and opened as a bed and breakfast establishment in the year 2000.
