Everett Residence, Interior Second Floor Landing Hall. 8 1/2" x 6 1/2" black and white photograph of the interior of the Everett house, a view of the second floor landing or hallway; another corner fireplace with wood paneling, inset mirror over the mantel and ornate tiles surrounding the fireplace opening; there is an upholstered settee beside the curtained windows, a wicker chair near the stairwell and an easel with a carved frame resting on it; round arched windows on the landing and oriental carpets throughout. The donor is the great-granddaughter of William Everett, co-founder with Aughenbaugh, of the EACO Mill in Waseca County. The Everett home, built by William's son Edward Everett, overlooking the east end of Clear Lake, was a showplace in its time, a classic Victorian-style home, it was demolished in 1958, an architectural and historical loss to Waseca County. This photo is from a collection of 7 larger prints mounted on gray matboard all of the interior rooms of the Everett residence in 1898. Waseca Journal 22 October 1895 Messrs. Harquette Bros. & Hawald have the contract for the basement of Mr. Everett's new residence. Waseca Journal 26 November 1895 Mr. John McClay of Minneapolis, has the contract for building Mr. Everett's new residence. He began work on Monday morning with a large force of men and intends to have the walls run up and inclosed in about two weeks. Mineral wool will be used instead of plaster, which is more durable and much better in this climate, as it is a non-conductor of heat and cold and consequently more preferable. The house was not finished until sometime in 1896. Most of the interior photos are dated 1898 and that is probably when the Everetts felt the interiors were properly decorated and finished for photography.
