Kemper Greenhouse Lettuce Beds. 5 /12\" x 3 1/2\" black and white postcard photograph of the interior of a greenhouse showing lettuce beds at Kemper\'s Greenhouse, Waseca, Minn. William Kemper opened the business in 1896, growing vegetables in the greenhouse behind his home on north Highway 13 or what is now North State Street. He operated the greenhouse until 1941 when he sold it to Orton Manke. Rollie Malloy was the next owner buying circa 1960. He sold it to Diane Pentico about 1968--she only owned for 4 years. She was foreclosed on, Malloy took possession and sold to Rick Morris in 1972. The business in 2001 is Waseca Floral owned by Rick and Sheila Morris.
Waseca business: Kemper\'s Greenhouse. The donor is the great-grandson of William Everett, co-founder with Aughenbaugh, of the EACO Mill in Waseca County. The Everett home, built by William\'s son Edward Everett, overlooking the east end of Clear Lake, was a showplace in its time, a classic Victorian-style home, it was demolished in 1958 it was an architectural and historical loss to Waseca County. This collection of photographs from Willard Everett is donated under our \"\"Loaned to Us\"\" program, where the donor allows WCHS to scan the images, but donor keeps possession of the original photographs. This photo is from one of the Everett family albums, one entirely devoted to documenting the childhood of William Rinehart Everett, son of E. A. and Nettie Everett, and the donor\'s father. William R. Everett was born in Waseca, Minn., on May 13, 1891.
