William Hansen in Straw Hat, Summer Clothes and Smoking a Cigar. 2 1/2" x 3 7/8" black and white photograph of William (Bill) Hansen, a member of the Arlington Club and great-uncle to the donor, standing inside a Waseca store during the Fourth of July weekend; Hansen is wearing a straw hat, white shirt and bow tie and smoking a cigar. A small American flag hangs above the store display behind Hansen. On the exterior glass window is a poster reading, "Gentry Bros. . . ." Fourth of July. 4th of July. July 4th.

All of these photographs are from the album of Carrie Hansen Ballard, wife of Arthur Erwin Ballard; married in February 17, 1902. Arthur is the son of Isaac and Catherine (Erwin) Ballard, Waseca settlers. Carrie and Arthur Ballard are the donor's grandparents. Arlington Club was a young men's social club in Waseca at the turn of the 20th century. The club was organized about 1903 and disbanded after WWI in 1918. They met in the basement meeting room of the First National Bank at 100 North State Street, Waseca, Minn. See Waseca Journal - Radical 15 May 1918 for more information.
