February 9, 1866, d. November 23, 1922; married Rosemary Breen on February 12, 1890; elected mayor of Waseca, 1897; son of Patrick Moonan who operated the Sheridan Hotel in Waseca; John was admitted to the bar on March 27, 1887; served as Waseca county attorney, and Minnesota State Senator from 1907-1913; known as the "Napoleon of the Senate;" fathered seven children, Joseph Moonan, Kathleen Moonan, Grace Moonan, Helen Moonan, Raymond Moonan, Paul Moonan, and Robert Moonan (died at age 16). Joe, Ray and Paul became lawyers also.
